The Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina are a photographers paradise. The oldest mountain range in North America runs through several states commencing from the south east in the state of Alabama and running through 1500 miles into the far eastern provinces of Canada! The Blue Ridge Parkway that accompanies this range for about a third of its stretch offers a plethora of opportunities for the hungry artist. This image was taken on a foggy morning just after sunrise at Pounding Mill overlook. This is a very popular overlook and many a day you might find a shutterbug setting up his/her equipment and waiting patiently for the Sun to show up and light up these valleys through the early morning fog; a treat for the mind, body and soul if you just happen to wake up early and make the effort to head out to this place in pitch darkness.
