These beautiful little butterflies are abundant during the early morning of the summer months on the trail to Frying Pan Mountain, in the Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina. As little as they are, this species is supposedly quite territorial and has a propensity to chase away any challengers. A cloudy morning with little to no breeze/wind is perhaps the best time to photograph these as they are quite lazy and don't become active till the Sun is quite high up.
