Nestled about 2 miles from the parking lot of the Big Creek section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a beautiful 45-foot tall waterfall called Mouse Creek Falls. The Big Creek trail that leads to this lovely waterfall is a photographer's and nature enthusiasts paradise during the spring and fall seasons. Various kinds of wildflowers like the toad shade trillium, yellow trillium and fire pink, to name a few, line the trail during the bloom season in spring. And for the really adventurous, there is a campground right next to the parking lot where you can set up your camp, making a long weekend a really fun experience for the entire family. To photograph this waterfall it is best to hike to it very early in the morning or late in the evening. I usually prefer the mornings because there is a slight chance that you might be able to get some fog that really adds some drama to the photograph. For more information about this beautiful section of the Smoky Mountains visit the National Parks Service website at www.nps.gov and do your research before heading out!
