Getting a worthwhile sunset photograph at the Maroon Bells is sheer luck. The mountain peaks are not in the direct path of the Sun, hence, one has to rely on the Sun lighting up the sky as it sets. With the clouds, the sunlight was just perfectly diffused to bring out the subtle colors. The wind gods played nice, as a result of that Maroon Lake became one huge natural mirror to capture the magic as it unfolded in the heavens above. Sometimes it is all about being in the right spot, at the right time, with the right light!
