Chapel Royal, part of the Dublin Castle, was designed by Francis Johnston in the 19th century. A masterpiece of architecture this chapel has had an exceptional history. The decorations of the interior have to been seen to be believed. Here I've made the effort to capture the decorations in the service hall and as you can see, the river heads on the ceiling are just phenomenal. George Stapleton was the one who designed the ceilings of this Chapel and I can't recall who sculpted the "river heads" that you see in this picture. Sitting in the last row I waited till the whole area was clear of the tourist crowd before I clicked my shutter. The light streaming in from the windows provided much needed lighting to capture the intricate details in the ceiling.
